In the wake of the Centre removing the central security cover of MK Stalin, the DMK Chief on Friday thanked Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel for providing him security and asked the government to instead utilise their services to keep students in universities safe.
“I wholeheartedly thank each and every one of the @crpfindia personnel for providing security cover for me over the past many years,” MK Stalin tweeted.
The DMK Chief also urged the government to utilise CRPF personnel to protect universities and students from those perpetrating violence in the name of religion.

The security cover was taken off the central security list after a threat assessment review was carried out by central security agencies and approved by the Union home ministry, Centre officials had said.
Following the decision, the DMK condemned the removal of the VIP security cover of Stalin.
In a tweet, DMK MP and Stalin’s sister Kanimozhi said she “strongly condemned” the withdrawal of security of her brother.
Kanimozhi said “crores of cadres and their love will serve as a fortification for Stalin, who has continuously been raising his voice for Tamils”.
